About Chai Lifeline (aka "Why I care")

Picture
When a child is born or diagnosed with a serious illness, the entire family feels the pain. Chai Lifeline provides the emotional, social, and financial support that enables each member of the family, affected child, parents, and siblings, to cope with the crises and daily challenges of life-threatening or lifelong pediatric illness.
Chai Lifeline brings joy to children and hope to their families. To accomplish it, we have created and implemented two-dozen diverse programs that include

  • Hospital visits and hot meals
  • Big Brothers and Big Sisters
  • Tutoring and laptop loans for homebound children
  • Counseling, art therapy, family retreats, and emotional support
  • Sibling programs
  • Therapeutic recreational outings for children and families
Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, incredible overnight camps designed to meet the medical and social needs of children and teens with life-threatening or lifelong illness. Over 400 children attend in four, two-week sessions.

  • Camp Simcha is one of the only camps that can accommodate children in active cancer treatment. Camp physicians administer chemotherapy in camp.
  • Camp Simcha Special is the only camp capable of managing more than 65 disparate medical diagnoses.
All Chai Lifeline programs, including Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, are free of charge to families. That makes your support even more crucial. For more information, visit the Chai Lifeline website at www.chailifeline.org.
